Silver and Orange Maine Coons |
The Maine Coon is a very interesting breed. Not only is it considered one of the oldest natural breeds in the US but it is also the state cat of Maine. These cats were widely popular until the 1900s when the Persians started becoming more popular. One theory of their origin was that a domestic cat mated with a raccoon which is where people thought that that was where their bushy tail and coloring came from though they do come in a variety of colors such as black/brown, silver, and orange. These cats are very people-oriented and very curious. Though they do not pester you for attention, they will try to investigate what you are doing and try to help you. They are very intelligent and some will even play fetch with their owners. They are also very quiet and rarely meow, if they do it's really soft.
I like these also! These look friendly and seem to be laid back.
