Calico Cats

Calico Kittens
Diluted Calico Cat
Plain Calico Cat

Though Calico cats aren't actually a breed, I thought that I would still post them as a topic on here because they are pretty interesting. Calicoes do not actually belong to a single breed but can be found in numerous breeds. There is a myth concerning calicoes: that all calicoes are female. Believe it or not, there are actually male calicoes out there but they are very rare and are sterile. In order for a cat to be considered calico, it should have 3 primary colors which are white, black, and orange. There are also two different variations of calico cats. There are plain calicoes, whose colors are more on the darker shades of black and orange, and diluted calicoes, whose colors are more on the softer/paler shades of black and orange.

  4. My mother-in-law has 3 cats that live around her house. One is a calico that is about 10 years old. She'll disappear for days and we think she's died, and then she shows up again. She seems to be pretty healthy for her age. I think she lives under the house. My sister-in-law feeds the cats.
